History

Oil was discovered by LAPCO in 1965 by driling of the exploration well 2S-1. the field was developed in lower/upper Arab formations and the first oil was produced in June 1963. The second phase of development was xompleted in 1978.

The average of oil rate during years 1973 to 1978 was 234000 STB/D, 1979 to 1985 was 150000 STB/D and after year 1992 was 140000STB/D. with the decreasing of oil rate to 80000 STB/D the development of field was started by PEDEC in 2000 . Production of the gas was started with rate of 50 MMSCF/D in 1997 by drilling of well 2SKA-1 which is used for gas lift system.
