Development of Dorood Oil Field
Dorood has an estimated oil-in-place and recoverable reserve of 7.6 billion and 1.5 billion
THE HISTORY OF THE FIELD
The Dorood field was discovered in 1961 with the IPAC exploration well Darius-1 (D-1) drilled offshore. Oil production started in 1964. Before the start of the drilling campaign operated by ELF petroleum Iran, 49 wells drilled on the Dorood field.
THE TECHNICAL CHARACTRISTICS OF THE FIELD
The Dorood field follows a N-NE to S-SW elongated anticline approximately 25 km long by 5 km wide.
The main productive horizon is represented by the FAHLYAN limestone formation which results from deposits on a carbonated platform from the Neocomian (Lower cretaceous) geological stage. The ultimate recoverable Oil reserve is estimated to be around 2.5 MMM STB which will be achieved by water injection rate of 250 MBPD and Gas injection rate of 120 MMSCFPD. Considering the 7.6 billion barrels of Oil in place, the recovery factor will be approximately 31% by the year 2030.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
PROVATE SECTOR
More than 2000 Iranian staff or workers in the region during construction phase were emplyed.
IRANIAN CONTENT
About 30 percent of CAPEX has been allocated to Iranian content, but approximately 42% of CAPEX has been committed in Iranian sectors which, in turn, results in promotion of ability of internal companies.
TRAINING AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
The contractor has been obliged to spend 1 percent of CAPEX (5.4 MM) for training and technology transfer in order to enable the Iranian personnel to handle the Dorood field operation. To accomplish the aforesaid objectives, various training sessions, both in Iran and abroad, were established.
A total of 307 IOOCs personnel participated in various training courses in England, Italy, France and Iran in different training stages.
